While attending college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO) in the early 1990’s, my dad and uncles would plan an annual visit to hang out and play golf for a weekend. After graduating in 1993, we decided to continue our trips to SLO for a guys getaway weekend and it quickly became our annual SLO Golf Trip. 

In 1997, after the passing of my mother-in-law (Vickie Menzhuber, 1995) and mother (Mary Ann Nevares, 1997), we decided to turn our little trip into a “fun-raiser" for hospice care. Over the years, our trip has grown from four guys to as many as ninety ranging in age from 18 to over 80 and coming from as far away as Southern California, Northern California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia.

Hospice

Hospice has been very instrumental to our family, as well as to many of the SLO Golf participants during difficult times over the years. Together with the support of family and friends, we created the charity SLO Golf Trip to support Hospice Care.

Whether your preference is to hang out and relax at the hotel, play a “friendly” game of dice or cards, take in the sites of SLO, like the Thursday Night Farmer’s Market, or visit the many pubs in town, San Luis Obispo offers a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Although the goal of the SLO Trip is to raise money to support the great work of Hospice, the true spirit and success of this event is to reacquaint with old friends and build new friendships! Many of our participants only see each other once a year while in SLO, but all have built new friendships in the spirit of supporting hospice care.
